FALKLAND ISLANDS
Rockhopperpenguin - Abriachan Nurseries We have a strong connection to these remote, wild and beautiful Islands at the bottom of the world.  The wonderful plants from the Falklands crop up scattered throughout our woodland nursery and available in our mail order catalogue.

In the 70's and 80's we lived on West Point Island, farming sheep and running a market garden selling vegetable to visiting cruise ships.  Wildlife abounds on West Point including Albatross rookeries, Penguin colonies, Caracara, Sealions and Dolphins.
The flora of the islands is incredibly diverse and hardy, having to face up to winds blowing up to 100kph and very little available shelter as there are no native trees.
The tough growing conditions do not make the tiny plants any less beautiful, perhaps they are even more precious for their diminutive size and their brief flowering seasons.

NOTE : Due to popularity, there are a lot of SOLD OUTS on this page, but we have left the listings up to show what may become available later in the year, call us if you have a particular interest and we will let you know how the stock is building up.

Our daughter Cat and her partner Brad have been recently working in a remote Island in the Falklands as wildlife tour guides, their enthusiasm for the beauty and diversity of the plants has encouraged us to offer these plants that we have until now kept as part of our own personal memories of the Falklands.
We hope that you find a corner of your garden to enjoy these plants - close your eyes, imagine limitless horizons, the wind in your face and the cry of the penguins filling the air.
